Bob Gibson hit his first homer of the season and 23rd of his career for his own winning run while pitching the Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over the Expos. The Cardinals started the scoring with a two-run homer by Tim McCarver in the first inning and added a tally on doubles by Jim Dwyer and Joe Torre in the third.
