. . . where the 1970s live forever!
While the Mets were executing an unusual double play in the ninth inning, Dave Cash alertly took advantage of the situation to score and give the Pirates a 2-1 victory. The Pirates began the inning by loading the bases on singles by Gene Clines and Al Oliver around a pass to Cash. Bob Robertson then grounded to Felix Millan, who threw home to force Clines.

Duffy Dyer, trying to double Robertson, pegged wildly into right field. Rusty Staub, grabbing the ball on the fly, threw to second, where Oliver had overrun the bag. Jim Fregosi tagged out Oliver, but Cash, who had advanced to third on Robertson's grounder, broke for the plate and beat Fregosi's throw to Dyer. [The Sporting News]
