The Yankees came from behind with a homer by Thurman Munson and two-run double by Bobby Murcer in the seventh inning to defeat the Tigers, 5-4. After the Tigers scored four runs in the top half of the seventh to take a 4-2 lead, Munson's homer ignited the Yankees' rally. Then, with one out, Horace Clarke and Matty Alou singled and Murcer doubled to drive in the tying and winning runs.
