. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Steve Carlton's record slipped to 7-8 when the Expos knocked out the lefthander in the sixth inning and defeated the Phillies, 4-2. Mike Torrez, making his 15th start of the season for the Expos, turned in his first complete game and gained his first victory since May 4.

Del Unser homered for the Phillies in the first inning, but Ron Woods walked in the Expos' half and scored on an infield out and single by Hal Breeden. Two walks and a single by John Boccabella put the Expos ahead in the fifth. Torrez singled in the sixth, took second on a sacrifice and scored on a single by Woods. After Carlton walked Clyde Mashore, Billy Wilson relieved. Mike Jorgensen then singled to drive in Woods. [The Sporting News]
