Ken McMullen, playing third base in place of injured Ron Cey, hit his second homer in two games and also drove in two runs with a single as the Dodgers defeated the Reds, 5-2. Tony Perez batted in the Reds' runs with a double in the first inning. McMullen's homer in the second and another round-tripper by Steve Garvey in the fourth tied the score.

The Dodgers then broke the tie with three runs in the sixth. Manny Mota singled, Willie Davis was hit by a pitch and Garvey beat out a bunt to load the bases. McMullen followed with his single to drive in two runs and Bill Buckner added the final counter with an infield out. [The Sporting News]
