Profiting from the wildness of Ken Wright, who walked eight batters in four innings, the Angels defeated the Royals, 5-2. Wright passed four to force a run home in the first. Walks to Rudy Meoli and Jeff Torborg with two out in the fourth paved the way for more Angel scoring.

Sandy Alomar followed those passes with a single to drive in one run and Vada Pinson tripled to account for two more. Pinson added an insurance run with a single in the seventh. Nolan Ryan, who hurled the route for the Angels, also was wild, walking seven. [The Sporting News]
