Singles by Pat Kelly and Jorge Orta, a double by Carlos May and single by Rick Reichardt accounted for the White Sox tallies. In the ninth, Terry Forster, pitching in relief for the White Sox, walked George Mitterwald, gave up a single by Larry Hisle and passed both Rod Carew and Jerry Terrell to force in the Twins' first run.
