Richie Hebner drove in three runs with a double and homer in the first game and hit another homer in the second game as the Pirates defeated the Expos, 8-6 and 3-1, in a twi-night doubleheader. Rennie Stennett also had three RBIs for the Pirates in the lidlifter, hitting a triple and sacrifice fly.

Hebner started the scoring in the nightcap with a homer in the second inning. The Expos came back with a run in their half on a double by Bob Bailey and single by Tim Foli, but Willie Stargell doubled and Manny Sanguillen singled to put the Pirates ahead again in the fourth and Al Oliver iced the verdict with a homer in the sixth.
