Handed his first starting assignment of the season, Ron Schueler pitched 8 2/3 innings before requiring help from Danny Frisella as the Braves defeated the Giants, 9-2. Schueler was removed after the Giants scored their two runs in the ninth and Frisella struck out Dave Rader for the final out. Darrell Evans and Johnny Oates homered for the Braves and Evans also drove in another run with a double. Dusty Baker batted in a pair with a bases-loaded single.
