Rod Carew stole home among the Twins' offensive highlights and Dick Woodson pitched a five-hitter to defeat the Rangers, 4-0. Jim Holt singled in the third inning, stopped at third on a double by Carew and scored the Twins' first run on a sacrifice bunt by Jerry Terrell. Carew, taking third on the play, then stole home. Steve Braun doubled in the fourth and scored when Larry Hisle singled. Hisle stole second and counted the final run on a single by Carew. [The Sporting News]
