Bobby Murcer, who had been vociferous in complaints that Gaylord Perry threw a "greaseball," smashed a two-run homer off the Indians' righthander to help the Yankees gain a 7-2 victory. Roy White connected for two round-trippers, starting the Yankee scoring with a drive in the fourth inning. Matty Alou then beat out an infield hit and Murcer followed with a homer. The Yankees proceeded to add three more runs on a bases-loaded double by Gene Michael before the inning ended. White hit his second homer of the game in the seventh.
