Posting his first shutout of the season, Steve Arlin allowed only three hits, walked one and did not permit a runner to advance past first base while pitching the Padres to a 3-0 victory over the Astros. The Padres staked Arlin to two runs in the first inning on singles by Gene Locklear, Johnny Grubb and Dave Roberts and a sacrifice fly by Nate Colbert.
