After striking out his first two times at bat, Bill Sudakis homered with two men on base in the sixth inning when the Rangers erupted for five runs to defeat the Royals, 8-3. Rico Carty, who had four hits in the game, led off the sixth with a single and was forced by Alex Johnson. Jeff Burroughs singled, but Dick Billings popped up. Sudakis then hit his homer to put the Rangers ahead, 5-3. Two more runs followed before the inning ended on a single by Elliott Maddox, pass to Dave Nelson, single by Jim Mason and error by Amos Otis. [The Sporting News]
