Reliever Ed Farmer picked up his second victory in two nights for the Tigers, while Gaylord Perry was tagged with the loss, failing to a hold 4-2 lead when the Tigers scored three runs in the seventh inning.

The Bengals' winning rally began with Cash's second circuit blow. Jim Northrup then singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on Rich Reese's two-out single.
