The Rangers, after taking a 2-1 lead, broke away with five runs in the fourth inning to defeat the White Sox, 7-2. Larry Biittner and Pete Mackanin walked and Bill Sudakis singled to load the bases. Ken Suarez came through with a two-run single and three runs followed on a single by Dave Nelson, pass to Vic Harris, single by Alex Johnson and sacrifice fly by Rico Carty. Jim Bibby, who beat the White Sox, 2-1, on July 3, pitched the last two innings in relief and saved the game for Sonny Siebert. [The Sporting News]
