Ron Schueler, making only his third start for the Braves since being promoted from the bullpen, pitched eight hitless innings and then settled for a two-hitter in a 2-0 victory over the Mets. Ron Hodges, who was the Mets' only previous baserunner, drawing a walk in the third inning, wrecked Schueler's bid with a single to open the ninth. Then, after two out, Felix Millan also singled before Ken Boswell flied out to end the game. Dck Dietz provided the scoring support that Schueler needed, hitting a homer off Jerry Koosman in the seventh after Dusty Baker had reached base with a single. [The Sporting News]
