A single by Charlie Spikes with the bases loaded in the 11th inning ended a three-hour, seven-minute game with the Indians defeating the Angels, 11-7. The Indians built up a 6-0 lead with the aid of triples by Spikes and Chris Chambliss before Bob Oliver homered for the Angels in the seventh. The Indians came back with a run in their half, but the Angels rallied to tie the score with six runs on seven singles in the ninth.

Buddy Bell opened the 11th for the Indians with a single and when Walt Williams bunted, both runners were safe on a late throw to second in an attempted forceout. Following a sacrifice by George Hendrick, John Ellis was passed intentionally to load the bases for Spikes. [The Sporting News]
