John Boccabella tied a major league record with two homers in one inning, including a grand slam, as the Expos piled up a 12-8 victory in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader before crushing the Astros again in the nightcap, 14-6. Boccabella accomplished his feat in the sixth inning when the Expos scored eight runs to wipe out a 7-4 deficit. After Boccabella led off against Jim Ray with a homer, the Expos scored three more runs before Boccabella returned to the plate with the bases loaded and ripped into Jim Crawford for his grand slam.

In the second game, Ron Fairly took over the slugger's role with two round-trippers, driving in three runs. Bob Bailey hit three singles and also accounted for three RBIs. Mike Marshall relieved in both games and was credited with his 14th and 15th saves. [The Sporting News]
