Homers by Jeff Burroughs and Bill Sudakis among six hits off Jim Colborn enabled the Rangers to beat the Brewers, 5-2. Jim Merritt, who was the winner, gave up eight hits, but the Brewers' only runs scored on a double by Don Money and homer by George Scott in the first inning.

Sudakis cut into the Brewers' lead with his circuit clout in the third and the Rangers then went ahead with three runs in the fourth on a pass to Vic Harris, single by Alex Johnson, sacrifice fly by Rico Carty and Burroughs' homer.
