The Brewers knocked out David Clyde in the fifth inning, pinning the 18-year-old high school graduate with his first defeat, en route to a 17-2 crushing of the Rangers. Clyde gave up five runs, four earned, on eight hits and three walks.

After his departure, with the Rangers trailing, 5-2, the Brewers exploded for five runs in the sixth, two scoring on a double by Don Money. Then, in the seventh, the Brewers went on a seven-run rampage on a grand-slam homer by Bob Coluccio and three-run smash by Money.
