Pulling within 18 of Babe Ruth's record, Hank Aaron hit the 695th and 696th homers of his career, driving in three runs, to power the Braves to a 4-2 victory over the Mets. This was the 60th time that Aaron had hit two round-trippers in one game. After Dusty Baker homered for the Braves in the second inning, Aaron hit a solo shot in the fourth and followed with another drive after a walk to Darrell Evans in the sixth. Both smashes came off George Stone, who formerly was Aaron's teammate. [The Sporting News] |
