Getting a second chance at the plate because of an error, pinch-hitter Chris Arnold delivered a sacrifice fly that gave the Giants a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals. With the score tied, 4-4, Gary Thomasson doubled in the seventh inning and stopped at third on a single by Chris Speier.

With one out, Arnold lifted a foul fly, which first baseman Tim McCarver dropped. Given new life, Arnold hit a sacrifice to score Thomasson. The run became earned when Bobby Bonds followed with a single. [The Sporting News]
