. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A grand-slam homer by pinch-hitter Hal King climaxed a seven-run outburst in the sixth inning as the Reds defeated the Expos, 11-6. Six Expos' pitchers set a club record of 15 walks. The Reds passed 10 and the two-club total of 25 walks set a new N. L. record.

With the score tied, 4-4, the Reds opened the sixth by loading the bases on two walks and an error on a bunt by Denis Menke. Johnny Bench hit a sacrifice fly. After another pass filled the sacks again, Bobby Tolan hit a two-run single. A walk reloaded the bases for the third time and King, batting for Ed Sprague, followed with his grand slam off Pat Jarvis. [The Sporting News]
