Jon Matlack gave up a double by Tommy Helms in the sixth inning for the only hit off his deliveries while pitching the Mets to a 1-0 victory over the Astros. Duffy Dyer, Matlack's catcher, drove in the run that the southpaw needed in his duel with Jerry Reuss, hitting a single in the second to score Rusty Staub, who walked and reached second on an infield out.
