Steve Busby struck out 13 to tie the Royals' club record and Lou Piniella and Ed Kirkpatrick batted in five runs between them to defeat the Brewers, 5-3. Piniella homered after a single by John Mayberry in the second inning. Freddie Patek walked, Mayberry singled and both scored on a double by Kirkpatrick in the sixth.
