Starting for the first time since 1967, Lindy McDaniel pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits, but was a hard-luck loser when the White Sox defeated the Yankees, 2-1. After the Yankees counted their run in the second inning, the White Sox took advantage of an error to tie the score in the fifth.

Buddy Bradford singled and Ed Herrmann was safe when Bernie Allen booted his grounder. Jorge Orta sacrificed and Bradford then scored on an infield out by Eddie Leon. In the sixth, McDaniel issued two of his four walks and Bradford followed with a single to drive in the deciding run. [The Sporting News]
