Backed by three homers, Mickey Lolich pitched the Tigers to an 8-2 victory over the Angels. Frank Howard, Tony Taylor and Rich Reese rapped round-trippers, Reese's blow coming with a man on base. Howard, in addition to his homer, drove in another run with a single. Taylor accounted for a second RBI with a double.

Frank Robinson hit a two-run homer for the Angels. The blow was the 535th of his career, moving him into sixth place on the all-time list ahead of Jimmie Foxx. Mickey Stanley handled 11 putouts in center field for the Tigers, tying an A. L. record. [The Sporting News]
