Bobby Murcer hit three homers and drove in all of the Yankees' runs in support of Mel Stottlemyre, who shut out the Royals, 5-0. Murcer's first homer came after singles by Matty Alou and Roy White in the first inning. His other blasts followed in the sixth and eighth as the Yankee outfielder hit three homers in a game for the second time in his career. [The Sporting News]
