. . . where the 1970s live forever!
After a grand-slam homer by Bob Bailey helped rally the Expos to an 11-7 victory in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader, the Braves donned their slugging togs and won the nightcap, 15-6. Hank Aaron hit his 697th career homer, connecting with two men on base in the fifth inning, to pace the Braves to a 7-1 lead in the lidlifter, the Expos' tally coming on a round-tripper by Ken Singleton. Seemingly headed for sure defeat, the Expos suddenly exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning. Bailey hit his grand slam off Phil Niekro. Jim Lyttle added a two-run blow off Jim Panther and the Expos then went ahead with their eighth run on singles by Ron Hunt, Mike Jorgensen and Ron Fairly. The Expos added runs in each of the last three innings, one coming on a pinch-homer by Hal Breeden, who also delivered a three-run drive as a pinch-batter in the second game.

The Braves piled up 21 hits in the nightcap. Norm Miller homered with two men on base and Carl Morton with one aboard in the second inning. Miller later hit a sacrifice fly for his fourth RBI. Mike Lum also batted in four runs with a triple and single. [The Sporting News]
