Willie McCovey batted in four runs with a homer and triple to enable Tom Bradley to pitch the Giants to a 5-2 victory over the Pirates. Bradley allowed only four hits, but two of them were homers by Richie Hebner and Al Oliver to stake the Pirates to a 2-0 lead.

The Giants tied the score on a two-run homer by McCovey in the sixth inning and went ahead in that same stanza when Gary Thomasson tripled and Mike Phillips singled. McCovey then clinched the outcome with his triple in the seventh, driving in the final two runs. [The Sporting News]
