The Braves collected only five hits, including a homer by Darrell Evans, but bunched them in the fourth inning to defeat the Expos, 4-1. Marty Perez singled for the first hit off Balor Moore and Evans followed with his homer. A double by Hank Aaron and singles by Dusty Baker and Dick Dietz added another run. Baker then scored when Johnny Oates hit into a forceout.

The Braves got even tighter pitching from Roric Harrison and Gary Gentry. Harrison gave up only two hits in six innings and Gentry, who had just been reactivated, allowed one hit in the last three frames to get credit for his first save. [The Sporting News]
