The Pirates exploded for six runs in the second inning and with a big lead, Rooker pitched the route for the first time this season and registered a 7-2 victory over the Giants. Rennie Stennett and Manny Sanguillen hit two-run singles during the outburst and Al Oliver belted a homer with a man on base. Oliver added another run with a double in the ninth. A double by Gary Thomasson and single by Chris Speier produced one run for the Giants in the fifth and Gary Matthews hit a homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
