The Orioles put together four hits and a walk for all their runs in the sixth inning and defeated the White Sox, 3-2. A double by Mark Belanger and single by Al Bumbry started the stanza. After Rich Coggins flied out Paul Blair walked and other runs followed on singles by Tommy Davis and Earl Williams.

Mike Cuellar, who hurled the route for the Orioles, gave up singles by Pat Kelly, Carlos May and Bill Melton for a run in the first and then did not yield the other tally until May homered in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
