. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Reds' acquisition of Fred Norman from the Padres continued to pay dividends when the lefthander defeated the Phillies, 1-0. The shutout was Norman's third and the victory was his sixth against two losses since donning a Cincy uniform.

The Reds beat Ken Brett on an unearned run in the sixth inning. Bill Plummer led off with a double. When Norman bunted, Brett threw to third in time to nail Plummer, but Mike Schmidt dropped the ball and the runner was safe. Pete Rose then hit a double. [The Sporting News]
