The streaking Red Sox were cooled off by the White Sox, who won separate-admission, day-and-night games, 8-4 and 5-0. Ed Herrmann hit a three-run homer and drove in two other runs with singles in the daylight contest. Wilbur Wood was the winner with help from Terry Forster.

Stan Bahnsen pitched a shutout in the night meeting, allowing only four hits. Buddy Bradford hit a homer and Eddie Leon drove in two runs with a single. Until the double dip, the Red Sox had won 12 of their last 15 games. [The Sporting News]
