Doubles by Greg Luzinski and Del Unser were the key blows when the Phillies scored two runs in the sixth inning to beat the Reds, 2-1. Jim Lonborg, who was the winner, was tagged for 10 hits, but the Reds scored only on a homer by Cesar Geronimo in the fourth.

Luzinski doubled in the sixth and, after a pass to Tommy Hutton, scored the tying run on Unser's two-bagger. Following an intentional pass to Bob Boone, Larry Bowa grounded into a forceout at second as Unser scored the run that broke Jack Billingham's five-game winning streak. [The Sporting News]
