Merv Rettenmund hit homers in each of the first two innings and drove in three runs to start the Orioles off to a 5-2 victory over the Athletics. After Rettenmund's second swat, Gene Tenace accounted for the A's runs with a homer in their half of the the second, but the Orioles picked up another run in the third on a walk and singles by Don Baylor and Brooks Robinson.
