With help from Pedro Borbon, who relieved in the ninth inning, Ross Grimsley gained his fifth straight victory when the Reds defeated the Expos, 3-2. The Reds scored twice in the second. Bobby Tolan singled, Cesar Geronimo was hit by a pitch and, after a sacrifice by Grimsley, both runners scored on a single by Pete Rose. Joe Morgan doubled in the third and counted the deciding run on a single by Dan Driessen. Bob Bailey and Bob Stinson homered for the Expos. [The Sporting News]
