Fred Norman, who had pitched three shutouts since being acquired from the Padres, shared honors in another with Pedro Borbon when the Reds defeated the Expos, 4-0. Norman, who gained his seventh victory in nine decisions with the Reds, was lifted after issuing two passes to open the ninth inning. Borbon retired the next three batters to record his ninth save.
