Hank Aaron hit the 700th homer of his career, only 14 away from Babe Ruth's record, but the Braves nevertheless lost to the Phillies, 8-4. Aaron's smash with a man on base in the third inning came off Ken Brett and put the Braves ahead, 4-2. However, the Phillies wiped out their deficit with three runs in the sixth, two scoring on a single by Jose Pagan. Bob Boone homered in the ninth when the Phillies added three runs to ice their victory. [The Sporting News]
