. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Al Kaline batted in three runs with a homer and single to reach a career total of 1,500 RBIs and provide the Tigers with a 4-2 victory over the Red Sox. Kaline hit his homer in the first inning. Tommy Harper had a matching drive for the Red Sox in the third.

The tie then lasted until the eighth when the Tigers loaded the bases and Kaline drove in two runs with a single. Hits by Willie Horton and Frank Howard added another tally before the inning ended. The Red Sox picked up their second run on an RBI single by Luis Aparicio in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
