. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Wilbur Wood, a loser of 19 games, became the first major league pitcher to win 20 games this season when the veteran knuckleballing righthander of the White Sox received credit for an 8-6 victory over the Twins. Wood, who won 22 games in 1971 and 24 in 1972, gave up 11 hits and was charged with all six of the Twins' runs before giving way to Cy Acosta after 6 2/3 innings.

Ken Henderson, after driving in a run with a single in the first when the White Sox scored three times, smashed a homer with two men on base in the third. Buddy Bradford followed with a solo swat in the fifth and Jerry Hairston drove in the final run for the Pale Hose with a single in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
