The Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the Orioles as Dick McAuliffe, Duke Sims and Jim Northrup hit home runs in a 4-3 triumph, the 10th of the season for lefthander Mickey Lolich. McAuliffe broke a 1-1 tie with a leadoff homer in the second, Sims connected to open the fourth and Northrup homered, also with the bases empty, in the sixth. Each of the blows came off loser Jesse Jefferson.

Baltimore touched Lolich for a single run in the first on a single by Merv Rettenmund, a walk, sacrifice and groundout. Lolich blanked the Birds until Andy Etchebarren's two-run homer in the ninth, his first of the season. John Hiller came on to strand two runners and earn his 22nd save. [The Sporting News]
