. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After Tom Seaver beat the Pirates for the fourth time this season, posting a 3-0 victory in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader, the Mets completed the sweep by winning the nightcap, 5-2. Seaver allowed only four hits and struck out 11. The Mets, who were held to three hits by three Pirate pitchers, scored all their runs without the benefit of a safety. Wayne Garrett walked in the first inning and counted on a sacrifice bunt, wild pitch and sacrifice fly by Rusty Staub. Four walks and a hit batsman forced the other two runs over the plate in the second.

John Milner hit two homers for the Mets in the nightcap and Ken Boswell batted in two runs a with pair of singles. [The Sporting News]
