The Orioles collected 12 singles off Bill Lee and scored their first run in the second inning on hits by Brooks Robinson, Andy Etchebarren and Mark Belanger.

In the fifth, Don Baylor beat out a bunt and took third when Robinson singled. Robinson advanced to second on an attempted throw to get Baylor and both runners scored on a single by Etchebarren.
