The Astros called on seven pitchers but could not stave off a 7-6 loss to the Reds in 11 innings. The Reds took a 4-1 lead in the first, but the Astros got two runs on a homer by Lee May in the fourth, scored another pair in the sixth for a 5-4 lead and added a run on a homer by Cesar Cedeno in the seventh. The Reds picked up a run in the eighth and tied the score in the ninth when Joe Morgan drew a pass with the bases loaded.
