In the twin-bill opener, after Alan Foster left the game trailing, 2-1, in the seventh inning, pinch-hitter Bake McBride singled to tie the score and tallied a run on Lou Brock's single that beat Tom Seaver. Orlando Pena, in relief, preserved the win for Foster, his ninth.
