Aurelio Rodriguez raced home from first base on two errors in the 10th inning to score the run that gave the Tigers a 5-4 victory over the Yankees. The Tigers sent the game into overtime with a three-run rally in the ninth. A double by Mickey Stanley, singles by Willie Horton and Al Kaline's forceout of Horton produced one run. Frank Howard then batted for Norm Cash and smashed a homer to tie the score at 4-4.

In the 10th, Rodriguez led off with a single. Ed Brinkman bunted and when Sparky Lyle threw the ball past first base, Rodriguez started steaming around the bases and scored when Felipe Alou threw wildly to the plate. [The Sporting News]
