The Indians were unable to hold a 5-0 lead and lost to the White Sox in 12 innings, 6-5. Charlie Spikes hit a homer for the Indians. The White Sox began their comeback with three runs in the sixth, two scoring on a circuit clout by Bill Melton. The tying pair followed in the eighth on singles by Johnny Jeter, Melton and Carlos May and a double by Ken Henderson. Melton walked in the 12th, stole second with two out and scored the winning run on a single by Jerry Hairston. [The Sporting News]
