. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Designated hitter Orlando Cepeda tied a major league record with four doubles and drove in six runs to lead the Red Sox to a 9-4 victory over the Royals. Cepeda was the 30th player in modern history to collect four doubles in a nine-inning game. The former National Leaguer started with a three-run double in the first inning and doubled for another RBI in the fifth. After a wasted hit in the seventh, Cepeda knocked in two runs with his fourth two-bagger in the eighth. John Mayberry batted in three runs for the Royals with a double and homer.
